eHealth Philippines
The introduction of e-Health in 1998, as a one-stop information resource on the web for the health research community, translated the enthusiasm of the health research community into the development of specialty databases by the research practitioners themselves, via study groups or specialty societies.  Among these were the specialty databases on surgery, TB, malaria, medicinal plants, reproductive health and managed health care.  This was an initiative which built on the ongoing work of PCHRD's HERDIN, a comprehensive national database on health.
