About NASPCP: National AIDS STI Prevention and Control Program
The Department of Health took the lead in establishing the National AIDS Prevention and Control Program in 1998 in response to the emerging threat of the global AIDS pandemic. In 1994, DOH integrated its STI program with the NAPC, which had been known as National AIDS STI Prevention and Control Program (NASPCP).

Fighting HIV/AIDS in Asia and the Pacific
(ADB-RETA 6321) - Subproject 5: Strengthening Country Response to HIV/AIDS among high-risk groups
The TA aims to develop and implement a more effective and evidence-based response to the AIDS epidemic at the country and regional levels. This Philippine subproject under the RETA Project: Fighting HIV and AIDS in Asia and the Pacific, seeks to strengthen country response to HIV and AIDS among two highly vulnerable population groups: Intravenous Drug Users (IDUs) and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). Specifically, it aims to (i) conduct a situation and response analysis in IDUs for the development of harm reduction strategies and (ii) build evidence and capacity for HIV and AIDS prevention and care for OFWs.

Former seafarer takes
center stage at HIV/AIDS forum
The Forum was attended by senior officials and representatives of ADB, DOH, DOLE, DFA, UNAIDS, IMO, UNFPA, seafarers’ associations, Pinoy Plus Association, and other concerned sectors. It was organized to serve as a vehicle for disseminating the key findings and recommendations of the PRIMEX Consultant Team’s Situation Analysis and Response (SAR) Report on the Project’s OFW Component.
