Executive order no. 102 dated May 24. 1999 was issued by
former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada authorizing the Department
of Health under the leadership of Dr. Alberto G. Romualdez Jr, to reorganize.
The National Center for Disease Prevention and Control (NCDPC)
was established with the
release of the Notice of Organization, Staffing and Compensation Action
(NOSCA) by the Department of Budget and Management and issuance of Memorandum
Circular no. 157 s. 2000 last October, 2000.
NCDPC superseded the Office for Public Health Services, created
under E.O. 119 s. 1987, which was composed of the following offices:
Tuberculosis Control Service,
Malaria Control Service, Schistosomiasis Control Service,
Communicable Control Service,
Non-communicable Control Service,
Environmental Health Service, Maternal and Child Health Service,
Family Planning Service, Nutrition Service and Dental Health Service.
